Uncover the stories that shaped Alberta's legacy.

At Alberta Legacy Guild & Publishing, we are dedicated to preserving and sharing the rich history of Alberta. Our mission is to connect readers with stories that celebrate the vibrant culture and heritage of our province.
Alberta Legacy Guild & Publishing is a privately held Alberta company dedicated to preserving, stewarding, and thoughtfully interpreting the history, culture, and way of life of Alberta.
The Guild exists to safeguard Alberta’s stories—past and present—through publishing, cultural work, and the careful placement of meaningful artifacts. Our work is grounded in the belief that history is not something to be archived and forgotten, but something to be lived with, learned from, and carried forward with care.
Alberta Legacy Guild & Publishing produces well-crafted books that honour Alberta’s people, land, and public life, with an emphasis on editorial integrity, accuracy, and lasting relevance. These works are created to endure—designed to be read, revisited, and passed down.
Beyond publishing, the Guild supports western culture initiatives, educational efforts, and journalism-related scholarships that reflect long-standing Alberta values: independence, responsibility, curiosity, and service to community. Where possible, the Guild also acquires historically significant artifacts, books, documents, and objects, and works to preserve, return or gift them to the places and communities from which they originated or will be kept safe.
Rooted in tradition and attentive to the present, Alberta Legacy Guild & Publishing seeks to encourage a slower, more considered engagement with history—one that values craft over speed, substance over spectacle, and stewardship over ownership. The aim is not to preserve the past unchanged, but to honour it thoughtfully while contributing positively to Alberta’s cultural and civic life today.

No. Alberta Legacy Guild & Publishing is not a charity or nonprofit organization. It operates as a commercial publishing and cultural enterprise.
The term “Guild” reflects a commitment to craft, standards, and stewardship. Historically, guilds were groups dedicated to preserving quality, skill, and knowledge within a trade. In this context, the word signals an editorial and cultural standard, not a charitable or membership organization.
The Guild publishes works focused on Alberta’s people, land, public life, and cultural history. Emphasis is placed on long-form storytelling, careful research, and thoughtful presentation. Each project is approached with the intention that it be meaningful, durable, and worthy of being passed down.
Yes. In addition to publishing, the Guild may support cultural events, educational initiatives, and journalism-related scholarships that align with its values and mission. Support is provided thoughtfully and independently, without political or editorial direction.
Where appropriate, the Guild may acquire historically significant books, documents, artwork, or objects connected to Alberta’s history. When possible, the Guild works to place or gift such items back into the communities, institutions, or regions from which they originated.
